We have a potentially thrilling and dramatic encounter at the Unipol Demus this weekend, as Cagliari welcome a frustrated Internazionale side to Sardinia.

Cagliari preview: Impressive Sardinians

Despite the expectation being that Cagliari would struggle this season, and they did collect just a point from their opening two matches of the campaign, Cagliari now come into this one on the back of three successive victories across all competitions.

The Sardinians began that run with a 2-0 victory over Parma before winning by two goals to one in Apulia against Lecce last weekend. They then hammered Frosinone in the second round of the Coppa Italia in midweek.

Inter Milan preview: Irritated Inter

After taking charge of Internazionale over the summer, Cristian Chivu is already under pressure after Inter began the 2025/26 Serie A season with two defeats, against Udinese and Juventus, in their opening three matches of the campaign.

The Nerazzurri did, though, manage to defeat Ajax in the UEFA Champions League in Amsterdam a few days before a hard-fought and unconvincing 2-1 victory against newly-promoted Sassuolo at San Siro last weekend.

Cagliari team news: Couple of doubts

Ahead of the visit of Inter this weekend, Cagliari are dealing with a couple of injury doubts as midfielder Gabriele Zappa is potentially sidelined alongside Angola international attacker Zito Luvumbo.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Caprile; Yerry Mina, Luperto, Obert; Palestra, Adopo, Prati, Deiola, Folorunsho; Esposito, Belotti

Unavailable:

Questionable: Zappa (Injured), Zito Luvumbo (Injured)

Inter Milan team news: Fully fit

Surprisingly for what is a veteran and ageing squad, Internazionale do have a fully fit and available squad for this weekend and so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven if they so choose. Yann Sommer has been dropped in goal.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Josep Martinez; Akanji, Acerbi, Carlos Augusto; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Sucic, Dimarco; Esposito, Thuram

Unavailable:

Questionable:

Cagliari vs Inter Milan prediction

Cagliari do have a bit about them this season, following the appointment of Tommaso Giulini. The Sardinians have an impressive cohesion at the moment, particularly defensively. That should make things difficult for an Inter side currently lacking any sort of fluency or rhythm. Inter have to remain favourites to grind out a victory, but it is expected to be a low-scoring clash in Sardinia.

Cagliari vs Inter Milan tip: Inter Milan to win & under 3.5 goals
