Cagliari Preview: Steady Sardinians

With the so-called ‘miracle worker’ of Serie A’s relegation battles, Davide Nicola, at the helm throughout the campaign, which is an unusual circumstance for Nicola, Cagliari have been able to steadily keep themselves relatively comfortably clear of the bottom three.

The Sardinians come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat to defending champions and league leaders Internazionale at San Siro last weekend. They have now suffered just one victory in their last eight matches in the league.

Fiorentina Preview: European push once again

After finishing as runners’ up in each of the last two UEFA Europa Conference League campaigns before losing to both West Ham United and Olympiakos, Fiorentina have now once again pushed themselves into the semi-finals of the competition this season.

I Viola overcame a surprisingly hard-fought quarter-final against Slovenian side Celje in midweek, eventually winning by four goals to three on aggregate following an underwhelming 2-2 draw at the Artemio Franchi in Florence the other day.

Cagliari Team News: Deiola suspended

Once again, Cagliari have no fresh injury concerns for this weekend ahead of the visit of Fiorentina and they have had a fully fit squad for most of the season. They are now without Alessandro Deiola, though, as he is missing through suspension.

Predicted XI (3-5-1-1): Caprile; Zappa, Yerry Mina, Palomino; Zortea, Adopo, Makoumbou, Deiola, Augello; Coman; Piccoli

Unavailable: Deiola (Suspended)

Questionable:

Fiorentina Team News: Couple of doubts

Fiorentina have a couple of doubts as they make the trip to the Sardegna Arena this weekend with Germany international wing-back Robin Gosens now potentially unavailable alongside Andrea Colpani.

Predicted XI (3-5-1-1): David de Gea; Pongracic, Pablo Mari, Ranieri; Dodo, Mandragora, Cataldi, Fagioli, Parisi; Gudmundsson; Kean

Unavailable: Edoardo Bove (Illness)

Questionable: Gosens (Injured), Colpani (Injured)

Cagliari vs Fiorentina Prediction

Cagliari come into this one is some rough form at the moment and that has closed the gap between themselves and the bottom three but they remain six points clear with six games to go ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. They now face a Fiorentina side that have been improved of late with an eight-match unbeaten run of form across all competitions but they may well be feeling some emotional and physical fatigue so siding with Cagliari may well be the way to go for this one.

Cagliari vs Fiorentina Tip: Double chance – Cagliari to win or draw
