Burton vs Port Vale prediction

Gary Bowyer produced a great escape in charge of Burton Albion last season, and now the Brewers will be looking to kick on. They began their season with an excellent victory over Mansfield Town on the opening day of the season, before taking a 2-0 lead at Barnsley at Oakwell last weekend before succumbing to a 3-2 loss in South Yorkshire.

They now face a Port Vale side that, under the management of Darren Moore, gained promotion to the third-tier last season. The Valiants began with a hard-fought 2-1 defeat to Rotherham United at the New York Stadium, before then sharing a goalless draw with a strong performance against just-relegated Cardiff City at Vale Park last weekend.

Burton have shown some enterprise but their natural inclination is quite defensive and so a low-scoring encounter would therefore appear quite likely at the Pirelli Stadium.

Burton vs Port Vale tip: Under 2.5 goals
