Burnley preview: Clarets need a win
In their seven matches in the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, Burnley have been very stubborn and difficult to watch so far this season but the Clarets have managed just one victory in their opening seven matches so far.
The home team come into this one on the back of yet another defeat a couple of weeks ago at Villa Park as they suffered a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa in yet another game in which they were difficult to beat.
Leeds preview: Stubborn Leeds
Following promotion to the top-flight, there were concerns that Daniel Farke would set his Leeds United side up to be too attacking and open but he has perhaps gone even further the other way.
The Whites’ seven matches have seen them manage to collect eight points. Prior to the international break, they put in yet another good performance before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road.
Burnley team news: Foster a doubt
Lyle Foster sustained an injury whilst helping South Africa qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but Scott Parker has said that it is only a dead leg and so he will be assessed ahead of this weekend.
The Burnley boss did, though, confirm that Wales international defender Connor Roberts has suffered a setback and so he will now be sidelined for the hosts for 'a few months'.
Predicted XI (3-4-3): Dubravka; Laurent, Tuanzebe, Esteve; Walker, Cullen, Luis, Hartman; Tchaouna, Foster, Anthony
Unavailable: Beyer (Injured), Roberts (Injured), Amdouni (Injured)
Questionable: Anthony (Fitness), Foster (Injured)
Leeds team news: Perri not yet ready
Lucas Perri has returned to training over the international break and Daniel Farke has said he is building his fitness level back up but he is still unable to feature at Turf Moor and so Karl Darlow should keep his spot.
The Whites are without Italy international attacker Willy Gnonto due to injury, whilst Daniel James is ahead of schedule but the Wales international isn't in contention to start.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Darlow; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Longstaff, Ampadu, Stach; Aaronson, Calvert-Lewin, Okafor
Unavailable: Perri (Fitness), Gray (Injured), Gnonto (Injured)
Questionable: James (Fitness), Okafor (Fitness)
Burnley vs Leeds prediction
These are two sides that have perhaps been better in terms of their performance level than their results and the points collected would suggest. Both Scott Parker and Daniel Farke are taking the approach that playing a defensive and pragmatic style of football will be best for this season but games like this require a sense of urgency as it is a major opportunity for both sides to get a crucial three points and so both teams scoring would appear a good bet.
