Stade Brest have been perennial overachievers in Ligue 1 and they are performing reasonably well again in mid-table as they now face a struggling Auxerre side.

Brest vs Auxerre prediction

Coached by former Sunderland player Eric Roy, Stade Brest enjoyed a three-match winning streak from late-November and into December to lift themselves back up the table but they did head into the Ligue 1 mid-season winter break on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Stade Rennais before a surprise Coupe de France loss to Avranches.

They now face an Auxerre side that are battling against that dreaded so-called ‘second season syndrome’ as they hover just above the bottom two and the automatic relegation places. The visitors were most recently entertainingly beaten 4-3 by Lille in Ligue 1 a few weeks ago.

With their home advantage, Brest are favourites but both sides have improved as the season has gone on with more effectiveness in the final third and so it could be a good watch.

Brest vs Auxerre tip: Brest to win & both teams to score
