Brentford Preview: Bees looking to get buzz back

Thomas Frank has evolved the personnel and style of football at Brentford ever since their promotion to the top-flight in 2021 and there has been an increase in the entertainment level for the neutral when watching the Bees this season with their 14 games in the Premier League so far consisting of 53 goals with only three teams scoring more and four conceding more.

The west Londoners come into this one on the back of yet another defeat on the road, this time at Villa Park against an Aston Villa side that were winless in their previous eight matches. Villa raced into a 3-0 lead before half-time thanks to a wonderful strike from Morgan Rogers, a penalty from Ollie Watkins as well as a goal from Matty Cash before Mikkel Damsgaard notched a second-half consolation.

Newcastle Preview: Dramatic midweek for Magpies

Eddie Howe has found himself under more pressure recently than perhaps he ever has been in charge of Newcastle United but the Magpies showed their ability to mix it with the very best in midweek and, as Howe himself said in his post-match interview, showed what their level should be.

They shared a thrilling 3-3 draw with league leaders Liverpool at St James’ Park in a game in which they went ahead twice via Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon before a dramatic 90th minute equaliser scored by Fabian Schar, punishing a Caoimhin Kelleher error of judgement. That result means they have suffered just one defeat in their last six matches across all competitions.

Brentford Team News: Dilemma in attack

Thomas Frank has confirmed he is 'very hopeful' that key midfielder Christian Norgaard will be available for this weekend after missing the midweek defeat to Aston Villa due to a slight injury issue.

Kristoffer Ajer has returned to training but it is unclear as to where he is up to in terms of full match fitness, whilst the likes of Rico Henry and Mathias Jensen remain unavailable for the Bees.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Lewis-Potter; Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Schade; Wissa

Unavailable: Hickey (Injured), Henry (Fitness), Dasilva (Injured), Jensen (Injured)

Questionable: Ajer (Fitness), Norgaard (Injured), Nunes (Injured)

Newcastle Team News: Keeping up the intensity

With Newcastle discovering something at the weekend, the Magpies will be keen to maintain that heading into this next game.

Eddie Howe has said both Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon 'should be ok' after minor knocks against the Reds, whilst Sven Botman has returned to training but is building up his fitness levels.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Willock; Gordon, Isak, Joelinton

Unavailable: Botman (Injured), Lascelles (Injured), Krafth (Injured)

Questionable: Trippier (Illness)

Brentford vs Newcastle Prediction

As mentioned, Brentford have been very fun to watch at both ends of the pitch both home and away so far this season but they have also been very effective at the Gtech with the best home record in the whole of the Premier League so far this season. They now face a Newcastle United side that will believe they rediscovered a spark the other night and both Isak and Gordon looked like very difficult players from the vast majority of this season so far. Both teams scoring appears very likely for this clash in the capital.
