Arsenal team news: Odegaard could return

Martin Odegaard missed out at the weekend due to injury but Mikel Arteta said it was just a ‘matter of days’ until the Norway international midfielder would be back in action.

Odegaard's return will be well timed because Kai Havertz, having just returned from his long-term injury, is now once again sidelined for the Gunners and could be out for a while.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Zubimendi, Eze; Madueke, Gyokeres, Martinelli

Brentford vs Arsenal prediction

After a turbulent summer, Brentford have surpassed pre-season expectations with Keith Andrews at the helm. The Bees come into this one on the back of a thrilling 3-2 defeat of Newcastle United at St James’ Park at the weekend which leaves them tucked inside the top seven and the European spots ahead of this round of fixtures.

Manchester City came from behind at Liverpool to keep the pressure up on Arsenal but a previously nervy looking Gunners are beginning to show real composure, with hammerings of Leeds United and Sunderland sandwiching the 4-2 aggregate defeat of Chelsea in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup last week.

Arsenal have a real chance of winning the quadruple this season. This is one of their tougher tests left in the league and Brentford may bloody their nose at the Gtech Community Stadium but the visitors remain favourites.
