Carlo Ancelotti’s debut as Brazil manager was uninspiring to say the least against Ecuador but on home soil, he will be hoping for a much-improved display against Paraguay

Brazil vs Paraguay prediction

The eagerly-awaited arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as head coach of Brazil did not have the desired effect in his first game in charge as his team laboured to a goalless draw against Ecuador last week. If Ancelotti did not fully realise the size of the job prior to that, he certainly did after and he has work to do if he is to get this team firing ahead of the World Cup next year.

The point helped them edge closer to qualification at least and that likelihood remains a formality barring a remarkable set of results. They will look to clinch a win here and hope to seal their place in the 2026 showpiece event.

Standing in their way is Paraguay who sit relatively comfortably in a top six spot but will want another win to virtually secure their place in the World Cup finals.

They will relish the opportunity to frustrate Brazil and spoil Ancelotti’s home debut, and they will set out to do just that. Expect a low-scoring match as Brazil’s frontline continues to mis-fire.
