Borussia Monchengladbach preview: Still last winless team standing

After seven rounds of Bundesliga fixtures, Borussia Monchengladbach remain the only club left in the German top flight still not to register victory in the Bundesliga this season. As a result, they are marooned down at the bottom of the table and deservedly so, having drawn three and now lost four games following their 3-1 defeat away at Union Berlin last time out.

Falling apart defensively in the German capital doesn’t bode well for them against this Bayern Munich juggernaut, where their backline will need to be flawless to stand a chance of what would be the biggest upset win of the season so far when considering how impressive Bayern have been.

Bayern Munich preview: Flawless run continues

Is anyone going to stop Bayern Munich running away with it this season? Based on what we’ve seen so far, no would be the sensible answer. The Rekordmeister continue to swat away any opposition whether it be domestically or in Europe and with so many of their key players in excellent form, that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.

It’s been a massively successful week for Bayern, not only coming out on top by two goals to one in Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund, but also beating Club Brugge 4-0 in the Champions League, with Bayern boasting a 100% record in that competition as well to go with their 21 points from 21 in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Monchengladbach team news: A few issues

Borussia Monchengladbach are dealing with a few key issues for this one as Germany international striker Tim Kleindienst remains sidelined alongside the likes of Fabio Chiarodia and Robin Hack.

Predicted XI: Nicolas; Scally, Friedrich, Elvedi, Diks; Reitz, Sander, Engelhardt, Castrop; Tabakovic, Neuhaus

Unavailable: Chiarodia (Injured), Ngoumou (Injured), Hack (Injured), Kleindienst (Injured)

Questionable: Machino (Injured), Swider (Injured)

Bayern Munich team news: Gnabry a doubt

Bayern Munich have a very small squad and that will be a concern, despite their brilliant campaign thus far. Serge Gnabry is still a doubt for this weekend alongside defenders Josip Stanisic and Hiroki Ito.

Predicted XI: Neuer; Boey, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Kane, Luis Diaz; Jackson

Unavailable: Davies (Injured), Musiala (Injured)

Questionable: Urbig (Injured), Stanisic (Injured), Ito (Injured), Gnabry (Injured)

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayern Munich prediction

This has all the makings of a very uncomfortable afternoon for Borussia Monchengladbach. Rock bottom of the table with 16 goals conceded over the course of seven league games and now taking on a team averaging just under four goals a match in the Bundesliga so far this season. Most worryingly of all, is the fact that Bayern Munich just don’t seem to be slowing down or taking their foot off the gas. It’s been full throttle attack under Vincent Kompany with significant potency.

Harry Kane, Michael Olise and co should enjoy themselves in this game and the creativity within that Bayern attack both individually and as a team is likely to see them fashion numerous openings despite Gladbach being likely to pile bodies behind the ball. Expect the visitors to go marching on and make it eight out of eight with a win by at least two clear goals.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayern Munich tip: Bayern Munich to win with -1 handicap
