Borussia Monchengladbach Preview: Gerardo’s Gladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach, coached by former Bayer Leverkusen and Young Boys boss Gerardo Seoane, has been under pressure with the hosts struggling for consistency but they went into the winter break on the back of some much-improved form.

The hosts’ most recent outing saw them defeat struggling Hoffenheim by two goals to one in Baden-Wurttemberg. That means they have now suffered just one defeat in their last nine matches in the Bundesliga as they push for European qualification.

Bayern Munich Preview: Kompany’s Bavarians

Bayern Munich gave up the Bundesliga title after ten title-winning seasons in a row last season but, following the surprise appointment of Burnley boss Vincent Kompany over the summer, they do sit at the top-of-the-table with a four-point lead ahead of the restart.

Bayern have been generally very impressive in terms of sweeping aside the weaker sides in the Bundesliga but frailties against stronger sides remain. They went into the winter break, though, on the back of a 5-1 demolition of RB Leipzig a few weeks ago.

Borussia Monchengladbach Team News: A few injuries

Borussia Monchengladbach are dealing with several injury doubts for this weekend’s visit of league leaders Bayern Munich. Experienced midfielder Florian Neuhaus is a doubt alongside goalkeeper Jan Jakob Olschowsky.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Nicolas; Scally, Itakura, Elvedi, Ullrich; Sander, Weigl; Honorat, Plea, Hack; Kleindienst

Unavailable: Walde (Injured)

Questionable: Olschowsky (Injured), Ngomou (Injured), Neuhaus (Injured), Yvandro Borges Sanches (Injured)

Bayern Munich Team News: Upamecano suspension

Harry Kane returned too full fitness just before the winter break and will be looking to hit the ground running in the New Year. Bayern are dealing with a few injury issues such as Manuel Neuer and Serge Gnabry, whilst centre-back Dayot Upamecano is out suspended.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Peretz; Laimer, Dier, Kim, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Olise, Musiala, Sane; Kane

Unavailable: Upamecano (Suspended), Boey (Injured), Joao Palhinha (Injured)

Questionable: Neuer (Injured), Ito (Injured), Stanisic (Injured), Coman (Injured), Gnabry (Injured)

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayern Munich Prediction

Gerardo Seoane is known for his very exciting and attacking style of football, which was the case at Young Boys and Leverkusen, and that has led to a frustrating year and a half at Borussia-Park but their form before the winter break will give them encouragement. However, being open against this Bayern side is a recipe for disaster on paper with the attacking arsenal that the visitors personnel, both on the counter and with the ball.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayern Munich Tip: Bayern Munich to win & over 2.5 goals
