Borussia Dortmund are chasing for a third Bundesliga win in a row as they host Hamburg.

Borussia Dortmund preview: Professional work

Borussia Dortmund have won each of their last two Bundesliga games, responding well from being dumped out of the Championship in embarrassing fashion by Atalanta. Since then, they defeated both FC Cologne and Augsburg, even making up some ground on Bayern Munich last weekend.

However, the Rekordmeister remain a daunting nine points clear at the top of the table with a far superior goal difference to Niko Kovac’s side, underlining just how big the task is to overcome them. To be quite frank, it’s long been taken out of their hands.

Hamburg preview: Continuing to accumulate

Hamburg keep on picking up points, ensuring they stay well clear of relegation trouble and that was demonstrated again last time out. Whilst far from their best, they still managed to come away from a home clash against FC Cologne with a point, meaning only Union Berlin overtook them in the Bundesliga table.

After Fabio Vieira put them in front, Hamburg were pegged back at the Volksparkstadion and failed to find a winner in the second half. No team in the German top flight has now drawn more games this season.

Borussia Dortmund team news: Bensebaini back

Expect Ramy Bensebaini back in the starting line-up following suspension, whilst Beier and Brandt are most likely fighting for a sole place alongside Guirassy and Adeyemi up top.

Predicted XI: (3-4-3): Kobel; Anton, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Ryerson, Bellingham, Nmecha, Svensson; Brandt, Guirassy, Adeyemi

Unavailable: Can (Injured), Mane (Injured)

Hamburg team news: Which three to pick

Hamburg are likely to match Dortmund’s 3-4-3 formation with decisions to make over who starts in the front three, with the likes of Damion Downs making a strong case for inclusion.

Predicted XI: (3-4-3): Heuer Fernandes; Omari, Vuskovic, Torunarigha; Mikelbrencis, Remberg, Lokonga, Muheim; Vieira, Konigsdorffer, Dompe

Unavailable: Gendrey (Injured), Hlozek (Injured), Machida (Injured)

Borussia Dortmund vs Hamburg prediction

Borussia Dortmund can only keep winning and hope for a miracle. With them out of the Champions League and DFB-Pokal, all focus for them is on the Bundesliga and they should be laser-focused on this contest. Hamburg have proven an excellent addition to the Bundesliga and on their day are more than a match for anyone.

However, to take that step away from home against a Champions League club may be a little out of Hamburg’s reach for them. Dortmund have proven solid in their last two league games and it’s worth backing them to make it three in a row with victory over Merlin Polzin’s side.
