Key stats

  • Prior to this tie, the only UEFA meeting between these teams was on Matchday 4 of this season’s UEFA Europa League when they drew 0-0 in Italy. That was also Bologna’s only previous encounter with a Norwegian side.
  • Aside from their meetings with Bologna, Brann’s only previous UEFA tie against Italian opposition came in the 1989/90 Cup Winners’ Cup first round, where they lost 3-0 on aggregate to Sampdoria (0-2 at home, 0-1 away).
  • Bologna have lost only two of their previous 31 UEFA competition home matches (W17 D12).
  • Bologna are unbeaten in their last eight UEFA Europa League matches (W5 D3), winning four of their most recent five (D1).
  • Bologna have won all 11 previous UEFA two‑legged ties in which they won the first leg.
  • Brann are winless in their four previous UEFA meetings with Italian opposition (D1 L3) and failed to score in any of those matches.
  • Brann are without a win in their last six UEFA Europa League matches (D3 L3).
  • Brann have won only three of their last 20 UEFA away matches (D7 L10).
  • Brann have won only one of their previous seven UEFA two‑legged ties after losing the first leg at home. Their sole comeback came against Club Brugge in the 2007/08 UEFA Cup first round, overturning a 1-0 home defeat with a 2-1 away win in the second leg to progress on away goals.

Bologna vs Brann prediction

Bologna managed to defeat Brann by a goal to nil in Norway the other day, courtesy of a strike from Santiago Castro as the Italians try and get themselves back into some form.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side have since defeated Udinese by a goal to nil, too, as they chase a top seven finish and European qualification once again in Serie A. That made it three victories on the bounce across all competitions. Brann are yet to play competitive domestic football in 2026 and the visitors have perhaps overperformed to have even reached this stage of the UEFA Europa League.

With their home advantage, Bologna will be expected to ease themselves to a comfortable victory as they move into the round of 16.
