Birmingham City are under a bit of pressure as they seek to finish the calendar year with a much-needed flourish ahead of the visit of Derby County to St Andrew’s.

Birmingham vs Derby prediction

Birmingham City come into this one on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in South Yorkshire at the weekend. Blues boss Chris Davies is under a bit of pressure after another heavy summer of spending, following their record-breaking League One title win last season.

Derby County have fought hard throughout this campaign, with John Eustace’s Rams expected to push back into the top-half this season. They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth at Pride Park, meaning that they suffered just three defeats in their last 12 matches in the Championship.

Birmingham have a slow and deliberate, currently ineffective style of play, with Derby themselves naturally defensive under Eustace and so a low-scoring encounter is to be expected.

Birmingham vs Derby tip: Under 2.5 goals
