Benfica vs Nice prediction

It was a one-sided affair in the first-leg of this UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie at the Allianz Riviera down on the south coast last week as Benfica cruised to a 2-0 victory over Nice. In that game, Benfica’s new signing Franjo Ivanovic opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, before Florentino Luis made it 2-0 to the Portuguese giants late on.

Benfica will be expected to improve upon last season, where they lost out on both the Primeira Liga and the Taca de Portugal to Sporting CP. Nice have the frustration of not being the priority of their ownership group, INEOS, due to their involvement at Manchester United.

Nice will believe they have managed to stay in the tie, but a 2-0 loss flattered Franck Haise’s French side, so Benfica to complete a two-legged victory is to be expected.

Benfica vs Nice tip: Benfica to win
