Bayern Munich preview: Der Klassiker triumph

Vincent Kompany is in charge of an extremely impressive Bayern Munich side that will be aiming to win the treble this season, with an upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Serie A side Atalanta next week.

The Bavarians come into this one on the back of an entertaining 3-2 win against Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker last weekend in a game in which they went 1-0 down and conceded an 83rd minute equaliser to make it 2-2, too.

Borussia Monchengladbach preview: Much-needed win

Having been in poor form, Borussia Monchengladbach do begin this weekend’s round of fixtures still sitting in the bottom-half of the Bundesliga table and they are only three points outside of third-from-bottom and the relegation playoff place.

Gladbach come into this one, though, on the back of a much-needed victory last weekend as they defeated Union Berlin by a goal to nil, courtesy of a Kevin Diks penalty scored deep into second-half stoppage-time.

Bayern Munich team news: Kane expected to miss out

Bayern Munich will be without their star striker for the visit of Gladbach with a calf injury ruling out Harry Kane, although the England captain should return for his club's Champions League game in midweek.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Urbig; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Stanisic; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Karl, Diaz; Jackson

Unavailable: Ito (Injured), Kane (Injured)

Questionable: Neuer (Injured), Davies (Injured)

Borussia Monchengladbach team news: Engelhardt suspended

Former Como midfielder Yannik Engelhardt is missing through suspension for this one with Tottenham Hotspur loanee Kota Takai also a doubt for the visitors.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Nicolas; Sander, Elvedi, Diks; Scally, Reitz, Stoger, Castrop; Honorat, Mohya; Tabakovic

Unavailable: Ngoumou (Injured), Engelhardt (Suspended), Hack (Injured), Kleindienst (Injured)

Questionable: Takai (Injured)

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach prediction

Borussia Monchengladbach will simply seek damage limitation and to batten down the hatches here as they continue to be dragged into a relegation battle in the Bundesliga. However, even with the distraction and possible rotation of the hosts, that is unlikely to be too effective a game plan and Bayern will be expected to ease themselves to yet another comfortable victory even without the services of Kane up top.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach tip: Bayern Munich to win -2 handicap
