Bayern Munich preview: Unstoppable champions

The current holders of the Meisterschale continue to demonstrate why they won’t be giving it up easily this season. It’s now six wins from six for Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich since the start of this latest Bundesliga campaign as they blow away anyone getting in their way. Eintracht Frankfurt were Bayern’s latest victims, going down 0-3 to the champions just prior to the international break.

Averaging over four goals a game at present, the Rekordmeister has backed that up with some excellent work defensively, conceding just three times. Despite their Champions League commitments, the strength-in-depth of Kompany’s squad has allowed him to tinker as appropriate, helping to avoid burnout.

Borussia Dortmund preview: An unbeaten start

Whilst Borussia Dortmund may still have a long way to go if they are to declare themselves serious title challengers to Bayern Munich, Niko Kovac and his side have at least laid down a promising platform. Victory here would draw them just one point behind the Bundesliga leaders and extend their unbeaten start in the league to seven matches.

Although Dortmund have less than half of Bayern’s goals in the league, they’ve managed to accumulate plenty of positive results. However, a 1-1 draw at home to RB Leipzig last time out did end a run of four consecutive Bundesliga victories, allowing Bayern to extend their lead at the top of the table by another two points.

Bayern Munich team news: Gnabry to get nod

Expect Serge Gnabry to start ahead of Nicolas Jackson for Bayern Munich, who will be without Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, Jamal Musiala and Josip Stanisic through injury. Raphael Guerreiro faces a late fitness test.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Boey, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Gnabry, Diaz; Kane

Unavailable: Davies (Injured), Ito (Injured), Musiala (Injured), Stanisic (Injured)

Questionable: Guerreiro (Injured)

Borussia Dortmund team news: Three out for visitors

Borussia Dortmund won’t have the vastly experienced Emre Can available, he remains on the sidelines alongside Aaron Anselmino and Julien Duranville. Aside from those three, Dortmund should have a fully fit squad.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Kobel; Anton, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Couto, Sabitzer, Nmecha, Svensson; Adeyemi, Guirassy, Beier

Unavailable: Anselmino (Injured), Can (Injured), Duranville (Injured)

Questionable:

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund prediction

If any team can stop this formidable Bayern Munich attack led by the goalscoring juggernaut that is Harry Kane, Borussia Dortmund may represent the most realistic hope in the Bundesliga. They’ve conceded just four goals across six league matches this season. However, Niko Kovac’s men have not faced a team close to the quality of Bayern from an offensive perspective.

With a whopping 18 goals in ten games across all competitions for Bayern so far in 2025-26, including 11 from six in the Bundesliga, Kane is an excellent bet to continue his wonderful form in front of goal. If Kane is firing on all cylinders, Vincent Kompany’s side usually wind up victorious and the same is expected in this highly-anticipated showdown. Back the hosts with Kane finding the net at least once.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund tip: Bayern Munich to win and Harry Kane to score anytime
