Bayern Munich began their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup group stage campaign extremely impressively as they now take on Boca Juniors at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Bayern Munich team news: Muller, Musiala dilemma

Harry Kane is unlikely to be dropped but the three men behind him in attack, Michael Olise, Thomas Muller and Kingsley Coman, all scored braces, whilst Jamal Musiala, returning to full fitness, scored a hat-trick off the bench against Auckland City. Musiala remaining on the bench seems the most likely outcome still, though.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Boey, Tah, Stanisic, Guerreiro; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Muller, Coman; Kane

Unavailable: Kim (Injured)

Questionable:

Boca Juniors team news: A few issues

Ander Herrera had to be replaced due to injury after just 20 minutes the other day and he was then shown a red card from the bench before half-time. Centre-back Nicolas Figal was also sent off so the pair are suspended for this clash. Both Sergio Romero and Edinson Cavani also remain sidelined through injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Marchesin; Luis Advincula, Costa, Rojo, Blanco; Williams Alarcon, Battaglia; Zenon, Velasco, Carlos Palacios; Miguel Merentiel

Unavailable: Romero (Injured), Nicolas Figal (Suspended), Ander Herrera (Suspended), Edinson Cavani (Injured)

Questionable:

Key stats

  • This is the second competitive meeting between these teams, after a 1-0 victory for Bayern München in the Toyota Cup in November 2001 in Tokyo, courtesy of an extra time goal from Samuel Kuffour.
  • Bayern have won five and drawn three of their last eight matches in all competitions.
  • Bayern have kept five clean sheets in their last six competitive matches.
  • Bayern are yet to concede a goal in eight FIFA club competition matches.
  • Boca have lost only three of their last 14 competitive matches (W7 D4 L3).
  • Michael Olise has scored in each of Bayern’s last five competitive matches (six goals in total). Overall, he has 12 goal involvements in the five games (six goals and six assists).
  • The first goal at the FIFA Club World Cup™ was scored by a French player, Kingsley Coman, mirroring the maiden strike at the FIFA World Cup™ in 1930, which was scored by France’s Lucien Laurent.
  • Jamal Musiala became the first player to score a hat-trick at the FIFA Club World Cup™ and the first to net a treble in a FIFA club competition match since Espérance’s Hamdou Elhouni did so in a 6-2 victory over Al Sadd on 17 December 2019.
  • Boca’s Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani scored for PSG against Bayern in a 3-0 victory for the French team in the UEFA Champions League group stage in September 2017.
  • Boca’s Luis Advíncula (Hoffenheim) and Marcelo Saracchi (Leipzig) have both played in the German Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors prediction

Bayern Munich began their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a 10-0 demolition of Auckland City in Cincinnati the other day. They led by six goals to nil at half-time before Jamal Musiala scored a second-half hat-trick, too. Harry Kane, bizarrely, didn’t score or assist in the rout of the New Zealanders.

Boca Juniors played out an entertaining clash with Benfica in Miami in their opening game, leading by two goals to nil just before half-time, albeit Angel Di Maria pulled one back just before the whistle. Andrea Belotti was sent off for Benfica mid-way through the second-half but Nicolas Otamendi still earned the Lisbon giants a point.

Boca head into this one with significant absentees so, whilst capable of scoring a goal against still fallible opponents, Bayern would have to be viewed as heavy favourites.
