Bayern Munich will make it 17 wins from 19 in the Bundesliga this season with three points against Augsburg

Bayern Munich preview: Flawless new year

Since the Bundesliga’s resumption, Bayern Munich have remained perfect, winning every game they have played across all competitions. Their relentless penchant for goals continues to blow opposition clubs away, especially in the German top flight, with Bayern having racked up 16 goals in their last three league matches.

They have reached the 50-point-mark after just 18 fixtures, winning 16 of those and drawing two. An unbeaten domestic campaign is starting to look more and more realistic at this point.

Augsburg preview: Winless run extended

Last weekend saw Augsburg fail to end their recent winless streak in the Bundesliga, which is causing them to look increasingly over their shoulders at the bottom three. Three of their last four have ended in draws, with defeat at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach mixed in.

It’s difficult to see a shock on the cards here and damage limitation may well be the name of the game in Augsburg’s case, not letting their goal difference take a heavy pounding.

Bayern Munich team news: More rotation likely

Jamal Musiala could make his first start of the season, but Vincent Kompany will need to call upon his most versatile players to fill in at full-back with Laimer and Stanisic both out injured.

Predicted XI: (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Bischof, Tah, Kim, Ito; Kimmich, Goretzka; Gnabry, Guerreiro, Diaz; Kane

Unavailable: Boey (Illness), Laimer (Injured), Stanisic (Injured), Upamecano (Illness)

Questionable:

Augsburg team news: Banks a big loss

Defender Noahkai Banks will play no part in this game for Augsburg due to suspension and his absence is expected to be felt among the backline.

Predicted XI: (3-4-3): Dahmen; Chaves, Schlotterbeck, Zesiger; Fellhauer, Rexhbecaj, Massengo, Giannoulis; Rieder, Essende, Claude-Maurice

Unavailable: Banks (Suspended), Gouweleeuw (Injured), Matsima (Injured)

Questionable: Jakic (Injured)

Bayern Munich vs Augsburg prediction

As has been the script with almost all of Bayern Munich’s games this season, Kompany’s side should boss proceedings for most of the 90 minutes and create plenty of clear-cut goalscoring opportunities. Augsburg just don’t have the defensive capabilities to stop such an incredible attacking machine.

Expect the class of Bayern to shine through and for them to continue their free-scoring antics. Backing to triumph by at least three clear goals has to be favoured.

Bayern Munich vs Augsburg tip: Bayern Munich to win with -2 handicap
