Basel 1893 put up a sterner test in their opening UEFA Europa League game than they would have expected as they now welcome Stuttgart across to Switzerland this week.

Basel vs Stuttgart prediction

Basel 1893 come into this one on the back of an indifferent start to their Swiss Super League campaign, but they put up a fight on the continent. They suffered a 2-1 loss to Freiburg at the SC Stadion in Germany, with goals from Patrick Osterhage and Maximilian Eggestein enough to see off Basel.

They now face a Stuttgart side that, under the management of Sebastian Hoeness, qualified for the UEFA Europa League as a result of winning the DFB-Pokal last season. The Germans started their UEFA Europa League campaign with an impressive 2-1 defeat of Celta Vigo a couple of weeks ago.

Stuttgart play an extremely entertaining style of football and they will be expected to put their foot down here, too, in what should be a high-scoring encounter this week.

Basel vs Stuttgart tip: Over 2.5 goals
