In what has been a low-scoring group thus far, Barcelona SC have collected four points from their opening two CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores group stage matches, despite scoring just one goal in those two matches. The Ecuadorians most recently continued that difficult to play against mantra with a slender 1-0 defeat of El Nacional the other day.
They now face a Universitario side that are perhaps a level below the other sides in Group B that also consists of River Plate and Independiente del Valle. Universitario have started their group stage campaign with back-to-back 1-0 defeats but the Peruvians did manage to make it back-to-back comfortable victories domestically in the last week or so.
Despite their improvement domestically, Barcelona will be confident of shutting things down in Ecuador this week and a low-scoring home win is to be expected for this one.
