Barcelona preview: Bouncing back
Barcelona put in arguably their best performance so far this season in La Liga but the Blaugrana were beaten by a very impressive and much-improved Real Sociedad side at the Reale Arena in the Basque Country last weekend.
In midweek, Hansi Flick’s Blaugrana went to the Czech capital city of Prague and managed to overcome Slavia Prague by four goals to two, with a Lamine Yamal brace as well as goals from Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski after initially going 1-0 down.
Real Oviedo preview: Frustrated Oviedo
Real Oviedo head into this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting rock-bottom in La Liga with just two victories in their 20 matches having scored just 11 goals, despite an improvement since the appointment of Guilherme Almada.
The Asturians come into this one on the back of a 3-2 loss to Osasuna in a topsy turvy encounter at El Sadar in Navarre last weekend in a game in which Oviedo did lead before conceding a last gasp winner scored by Ante Budimir.
Barcelona team news: Ferran now out
Versatile attacker Ferran Torres is now an injury issue for Barca after the midweek, while Raphinga remains a doubt, too, although Lamine Yamal is fully fit and available.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Joan Garcia; Kounde, Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsi, Alex Balde; Pedri, De Jong; Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Rashford; Lewandowski
Unavailable: Ronald Araujo (Personal reasons), Christensen (Injured), Gavi (Injured), Ferran Torres (Injured)
Questionable: Raphinha (Injured)
Real Oviedo team news: Bailly a doubt
Former Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly remains an injury doubt for the visitors this weekend, while Alvaro Lemos is a confirmed absentee due to a knee injury.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): Aaron; Lucas Ahijado, Dani Calvo, David Costas, Alhassane; Hassan, Sibo, Colombatto, Ilyas Chaira; Alberto Reina, Fede Vinas
Unavailable: Alvaro Lemos (Injured), Ejaria (Ineligible)
Questionable: Bailly (Injured)
Barcelona vs Real Oviedo prediction
Oviedo are a team that have been improving under Guilherme Almada but the Asturians remain in a major mess. They gained promotion via the playoffs and have gone on to give themselves some major self-inflicted wounds with bizarre decision making both on and off the pitch. Barcelona will be expected to win this one quite comfortably, especially at Camp Nou.
