AZ Alkmaar come into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk, completing a 5-2 aggregate loss in the quarter-finals in the UEFA Europa Conference League. They have remained positive domestically, with three defeats in their last four matches.

NEC, on the other hand, have pulled off an extremely impressive and surprising campaign as they sit tucked inside the top three in the Eredivisie. Their 1-1 draw with Feyenoord last weekend extended their unbeaten run of form to six matches across all competitions.

NEC will head to the Netherlands’ second city in excellent form and, potentially, in a good spot to exploit a possibly fatigued and frustrated AZ side in the cup final.
