Auxerre sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table with two games of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 table to go as they now take on a Nantes side hovering just above the bottom three and the relegation places.

Auxerre Preview: Mid-table Auxerre

Following their promotion to the top-flight last season, Auxerre have been impressive for much of the campaign and they have a really good chance of finishing their return to Ligue 1 football in the top-half of the table but their form has dipped of late.

They suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Le Havre last weekend due to an Arouna Sangante winner in second-half stoppage-time at Stade de l’Abbe Deschamps to mean they have now suffered three defeats in their last four matches in the league.

Nantes Preview: Nantes in the battle

Nantes head into the final two games of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places after their impressive draws against Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse were not backed up against Angers.

They had earned themselves two respectable points in those games but now they come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat to fellow strugglers Angers at Stade de la Beaujoire last weekend due to a 52nd minute strike scored by Jim Allevinah.

Auxerre vs Nantes Prediction

Auxerre came up from Ligue 2 with quite a reactive and defensive style of football but they have actually been reasonably entertaining to watch in the top-flight with their 32 Ligue 1 games consisting of 93 goals. They now face a Nantes side that are winless in four matches and will be very concerned about Le Havre’s form. Nantes may well sense a chance to attack a team with little to play for and that could make it quite entertaining for the neutral in Auxerre.
