Australia vs New Zealand prediction

Now under the management of former Crystal Palace defender Tony Popovic, the Australians have been much-improved and eventually eased themselves to FIFA World Cup qualification over the summer. The Socceroos have a lot more talent plying their trade in Europe and the EFL than has perhaps been the case in the last decade or so.

They now face a New Zealand side that will also be at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a result of coming through the very easy Oceania qualification route as a result of the expanded 48-team tournament. They also have some emerging talent, too, though with Chris Wood now supported by the likes of Matthew Garbett and Liberato Cacace.

The New Zealanders will be seeking to make themselves difficult to beat ahead of next summer, and this one is expected to be a low-scoring encounter, and a fairly tough watch for the neutral.

Australia vs New Zealand tip: Under 2.5 goals
