Auckland FC played out a goalless draw with Melbourne Victory in the opening round of A-League fixtures, a good result on the road with Western Sydney Wanderers drawing 1-1 at home to Melbourne City, both goals coming inside the first 15 minutes of that game. Auckland of course, finished top of the table in the 2024-25 regular season, so more pressure will be on them here being at home.
However, Western Sydney Wanderers won’t be easy for Auckland to break down and the hosts may well need to show significant patience. Regardless of the final outcome, it would be surprise if we saw many goals and backing under 2.5 of them over the course of 90 minutes warrants serious consideration.
