Athletic Bilbao vs Roma Prediction

Roma trailed at home to Athletic Bilbao, but rallied brilliantly to shock the visitors. Angelino equalised six minutes after Inaki Williams had put the Spaniards ahead, before a goal deep into second half stoppage time from Eldor Shomurodov sent the home fans in Rome crazy and gave Roma a precious aggregate lead. It’s unlikely that Athletic Bilbao would let a lead slip at home the way that they did in the Stadio Olimpico and their attacking prowess should overwhelm the Roma backline at some point.

The big question is whether the hosts do enough to flip the tie on its head over the course of 90 minutes. But when taking into account that only Atletico Madrid have defeated Bilbao at home in La Liga this campaign, the smart move would be at least backing them to win the second-leg. Whether it’s enough to see them ultimately progress into the quarter-finals though, is tougher to call.
