This one would have been written off as a dud game towards the start of the season but now has the potential to be a bit of a thriller at the Gewiss Stadium.

Atalanta preview: Improved Bergamasci

Following the departure of Gian Piero Gasperini to Roma in the summer, Atalanta made quite a silly mistake with the appointment of Ivan Juric. After a lacklustre start to the season, that has now since been rectified with the arrival of Raffaele Palladino, a tactical disciple of Gasperini, and performances have been much-improved.

The Bergamasci come into this one on the back of another impressive result as they defeated Bologna by two goals to nil at the Renato Dall'Ara. That victory for Atalanta means that they have now won five of their last six matches across all competitions as they push back towards the top four in Serie A.

Torino preview: Less tedious Torino

Torino had themselves begun the season slowly but an improved run of form through the winter, including a recent run of three victories in four matches to lift them into the top-half of the table, had allowed things to seem brighter and a bit more positive in Piedmont.

They do, though, now come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Udinese at the Olimpico di Torino in midweek, losing by two goals to one. That score line perhaps flattered them, Leaving them immensely frustrated against an Udinese side that were woefully out of form.

Atalanta team news: AFCON absentees

Atalanta have a couple of CAF Africa Cup of Nations absentees for this one as Odilon Kossounou remains with the Ivory Coast, while Ademola Lookman is with Nigeria.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Scalvini, Djimsiti, Ahanor; Zappacosta, De Roon, Ederson, Bernasconi; De Ketelaere, Zalewski; Krstovic

Unavailable: Kossounou (International duty), Bakker (Injured), Lookman (International duty)

Questionable: Kolasinac (Injured), Bellanova (Injured), Scamacca (Injured)

Torino team news: Casadei suspended

Adam Masina is now away at AFCON as he is away with Morocco, while former Chelsea midfielder is now missing through suspension for the visitors, too.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Paleari; Ismajli, Guillermo Maripan, Saul Coco; Aboukhlal, Tameze, Ilkhan, Vlasic, Lazaro; Giovanni Simeone, Njie

Unavailable: Schuurs (Injured), Masina (International duty), Casadei (Suspended)

Questionable: Nkounkou (Injured), Pedersen (Injured), Ilic (Injured), Gineitis (Injured)

Atalanta vs Torino prediction

That result highlighted just how inconsistent Torino were, but that does mean that they are capable of throwing in an entertaining performance, too. Atalanta are a team that have rediscovered their groove of late and siding with a fun win for the hosts in Bergamo seems a good bet.

Atalanta vs Torino tip: Atalanta to win & over 2.5 goals
