Aston Villa Preview: Villains in excellent form

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa reign has been an extremely impressive one and the Villains confirmed European football for a third successive season last weekend as they defeated AFC Bournemouth by a goal to nil at the Vitality Stadium thanks to an Ollie Watkins winner.

The Villains will not want to settle for any European football, though, as they begin the match day sitting just outside of the top five on goal difference. Their victory over the Cherries means that they have now managed 12 victories in their last 15 matches across all competitions.

Tottenham Preview: Spurs’ focus on Europe

Tottenham Hotspur have reached the final of the UEFA Europa League with knockout victories against AZ Alkmaar, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bodo/Glimt. They will take on Manchester United in Bilbao at San Mames next week and their entire focus and attention is on that game.

Ange Postecoglou said he always wins things in his second season and it could well be that that is the case this year – and yet Spurs have remained woeful throughout the campaign. A 17th placed finish became likelier at the weekend with a 2-0 loss at home to Crystal Palace.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Prediction

Aston Villa have suffered just three defeats in the last two and a half months but those three losses have come in their biggest games against Manchester City in the league, Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League and Crystal Palace in the FA Cup. They face a Tottenham side that have very little to play for in the league and don’t appear too fussed on saving face or at least turning up for their supporters domestically as they drift towards the end of the league season ahead of that UEFA Europa League final. Villa should win and win quite comfortably in the second city.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Tip: Aston Villa to win -1 handicap
