Aston Villa preview: Finding some form

In their opening six matches of the campaign across all competitions, Aston Villa have failed to win and they have scored just twice, with three points collected in the Premier League alongside EFL Cup third round elimination at the hands of Brentford.

Unai Emery’s side did, though, manage to get themselves off the mark in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League in midweek. They defeated Serie A side Bologna by a goal to nil at Villa Park, courtesy of a John McGinn winning goal in the first-half.

Fulham preview: Mid-table Cottagers

Throughout the last few years, ever since gaining promotion back to the Premier League, Fulham have established themselves firmly in the middle-of-the-table and mid-table obscurity appears likely for this campaign, once again, too.

The Cottagers do come into this one on the back of back-to-back home wins as they edged past newly-promoted Leeds United with a second-half stoppage-time own goal, before coming from behind to defeat west London rivals Brentford by three goals to one.

Aston Villa team news: Emiliano Martinez should return

Unai Emery said that Emiliano Martinez was suffering from a small injury and that is why he missed out in midweek but he should be good to go for this one.

There are a few midfield injury absentees for the Villains, though, with Ross Barkley still sidelined alongside Belgian duo Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne; Kamara, McGinn; Malen, Rogers, Sancho; Watkins

Unavailable: Onana (Injured), Tielemans (Injured), Barkley (Injured)

Questionable: Martinez (Injured)

Fulham team news: Coming soon

Marco Silva has confirmed that Kevin has returned to training after suffering a slight shoulder injury against Cambridge United in midweek.

He is available, though, and Fulham have no fresh injury concerns, which is a common occurrence for Marco Silva’s side.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Berge; Wilson, King, Iwobi; Muniz

Unavailable:

Questionable:

Aston Villa vs Fulham prediction

Fulham have managed two wins in the league this season and they have both had performances with question marks around them, and yet they remain a team that will continue to look up the table. They take on a Villa side that are looking to build on a much-needed win in midweek and, with that result and their home advantage, will fancy their chances of overcoming the Cottagers in the second city this weekend.
