Lionel Scaloni’s Argentinians are the most complete team in South America and, perhaps, the world, as the three-time world champions seek a fourth successive major tournament triumph. Their squad is perhaps even better, both in terms of quality and depth, than when they won the competition in Qatar.
They now face a Venezuela side that were humiliated last month as Bolivia’s defeat of Brazil and their own 6-3 loss to Colombia meant they ensured they would remain the only South American team to never qualify for a FIFA World Cup. The Venezuelans have named a much changed squad for this international break.
It is a young and inexperienced, humbled Venezuela squad up against the team to beat in international football so a comfortable Argentine win are expected to win comfortably.
