Key stats

  • El Salvador won both previous meetings between these teams in the qualifying tournament for the 2010 finals (12-0 and 4-0).
  • Excluding penalty shoot-outs, Anguilla are without a win in their previous 19 World Cup qualifying matches (D3 L16).

Anguilla vs El Salvador prediction

It’s been a disastrous qualification round for Anguilla, whose World Cup dream has ended following three straight losses in Group F. Not only were they beaten in three games, Anguilla were beaten heavily on each occasion, losing 0-4, 8-0 and 6-0 respectively against Suriname, Puerto Rico and Saint Vincent & Grenadines.

El Salvador meanwhile, are undefeated after two matches, drawing 0-0 with Puerto Rico before beating Saint Vincent & Grenadines by three goals to one. They came alive in that game from an attacking perspective to back up what had already been a strong defensive campaign so far.

The expectation is that El Salvador will coast past Anguilla, provided they leave any complacency firmly inside the dressing room. Therefore, it’s well worth backing the visitors to triumph by at least three clear goals.

Anguilla vs El Salvador tip: El Salvador to win with -2 handicap
