Andrew Gilding vs Cam Crabtree prediction
This is a draw and an opponent that spells potential danger for Andrew Gilding in the form of 22-year-old Cam Crabtree, who has shown numerous signs of his prodigious talent over the course of this year and now just needs that big high-profile televised win to really announce himself to the darting world.
Since obtaining his tour card earlier this year through Q-School, Crabtree has reached the third round of the UK Open and the round of 32 at the PDC World Masters. He has also won five PDC development tour competitions, thus topping the development tour rankings and qualifying for the Grand Slam of Darts, where he beat Jonny Clayton 5-1 in the group stage, averaging 102.07 in the process. The Londoner also took Danny Noppert to the limit, averaging 95.48 in a narrow 5-4 loss.
His credentials are clear to see and whilst Gilding boasts substantially more experience and televised success, Goldfinger could get put under massive pressure over the course of this game with Crabtree feeling like he has little to lose compared to Gilding. It would be no surprise if we saw an upset here and there’s significant value in backing Crabtree to advance.
