Andreas Harrysson vs Motomu Sakai prediction

No one will forget Motomu Sakai’s World Darts Championship debut in a hurry. After a memorable walk on that included lengthy autographic signings and some memorable dance moves, Sakai wound up taking care of business on the oche, the two-time PDC Asian Championship semi-finalist sweeping Thibault Tricole by three sets to nil.

Andreas Harrysson was also a winner on debut at Ally Pally, although his passage through to the second round was significantly more dramatic. The Swede stunned the heavily favoured 12th seed Ross Smith by three sets to two in a thrilling game. To beat a player of Smith’s ilk will have given Harrysson massive confidence moving forward.

It will be interesting to see which player is able to back up their showing in the first round. The freedom in which Sakai played in round one was notable, as was his ability to record big checkouts. He recorded outs of 148 and 121 and nailing those on that stage bodes well for him moving forward. Instead of backing a winner here, back Sakai to register the highest checkout.
