Alaves preview: Struggling Alaves

Coached by Eduardo Cardet, Alaves slipped into the La Liga bottom three last weekend. There is no mounting pressure on the former Celta Vigo manager, who has underwhelmed since getting the job in Vitoria-Gasleiz midway through last season.

The home team come into this one on a back of a slender but still frustrating 1-0 loss at the Metropolitano in the capital city against Athletico Madrid. Alexander Sorloth scored the only goal of the game early on in the second half to separate the two sides.

Real Betis preview: Out of form Betis

Real Betis come into this one after another shoddy performance as the Andalusians suffered a two nil loss to the Greek Super League leaders PAOK at the Toumba stadium in Thessaloniki.

Los Verdiblancos had been out of form in La Liga, too, as they drift further away from the top four in La Liga. However, their most recent league outing saw Betis defeat Villarreal by two goals to nil at La Cartuja.

Alaves team news: Nothing fresh

Alaves have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for this one and so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one in the Basque Country.

Predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Antonio Sivera; Jonny, Tenaglia, Jon Pacheco, Yusi; Antonio Blanco; Carlos Vicente, Jon Guridi, Pablo Ibanez, Carles Alena; Toni Martinez

Unavailable: Garces (Disciplinary)

Questionable:

Real Betis team news: A few injuries

Betis have plenty of key injury issues for this one with Giovani Lo Celso and Antony both doubtful, while Sofyan Amrabag, Isco and Cucho Hernandez are confirmed absentees.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Pau Lopez; Angel Ortiz, Diego Llorente, Natan, Rodriguez; Sergi Altimira, Nelson Deossa, Pablo Fornals; Abde Ez, Chimy Avila, Aitor Ruibal

Unavailable: Junior Firpo (Injured), Amrabat (Injured), Isco (Injured), Cucho (Injured)

Questionable: Hector Bellerin (Injured), Aitor Ruibal (Injured), Lo Celso (Injured), Rodrigo Riquelme (Injured), Antony (Injured)

Alaves vs Real Betis prediction

The intensity of having to compete for the top four as well as at the top end of the league phase of this season’s UEFA Europa League, Real Betis have been inconsistent in the last couple of months. However, they remain a strong team against a poor Alaves side and the visitors have to be the firm favourites for this one at Mendizorroza on Sunday night.
