Alan Soutar vs Teemu Harju prediction
Whilst Alan Soutar may be the more notable name of these two players, it would be a significant mistake to write off Teemu Harju. The 33-year-old Finn was the PDC Nordic and Baltic Championship winner, underlining his credentials ahead of this tournament and firefighter Soutar will need to be on his game in order to get through.
Soutar has previously reached the round of 16 at Ally Pally twice before but currently sits outside of the top 50 in the world rankings, so it’s crucial that the Scot enjoys a successfully World Darts Championship campaign. His last title won was the 2024 PDC Players Championship 11 in Germany, but of the course this competition is a different kettle of fish altogether.
Harju is somewhat of a wildcard and is more than capable of putting off a statement victory. But it’s hard to ignore the pedigree of Soutar is this competition compared to his opponent, he knows how to shake off early nerves and play a strong game in the opening round. Don’t be surprised if Harju wins a set, but back Soutar to come out on top.
