Matthias Jaissle and his Al Ahli side survived a scare to edge past Al Duhail by a goal to nil in the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League the other day, courtesy of a 117th minute Riyad Mahrez winner at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.
Johor Darul Ta’zim, under the management of former Sheffield Wednesday and Watford boss Xisco Munoz, come into this one on the back of having defeated Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the round of 16, despite losing away from home in their second-leg.
The Malaysians remain at the top-of-the-table domestically but this does appear to be a bit of a step up in quality with Al Ahli firm favourites to progress once again.
