AEK Athens come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat of Ilioupoli in the Greek Super League at the weekend. The hosts recovered from a defeat to Celje to kick off their UEFA Europa Conference League campaign before an annihilation of Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen by six goals to nil a couple of weeks ago.
Shamrock Rovers made it into the knockout playoff round of this tournament last season. This time around, though, they have begun with back-to-back defeats in the league phase. The Dubliners were beaten 4-1 by Sparta Prague before a 2-0 loss at home to the aforementioned Celje.
Shamrock Rovers are a way off where they were this time last year and they aren’t as stubborn either, and AEK will be confident of another heavy home win.
