AC Milan preview: Title race for Milan

Yet another change in the way they do things has seen AC Milan revert to the more direct and ‘win at all costs’ style and mentality of Massimiliano Allegri, which does have the Rossoneri sitting just a point behind league leaders Internazionale after 17 matches.

The hosts come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 win against Cagliari at the Unipol Demus in Sardinia, courtesy of a 50th minute winner scored by Portugal international attacker Rafael Leao.

Genoa preview: Struggling Genoa

At the start of this season, Genoa were struggling quite badly and failed to win any of their opening nine matches before sacking Patrick Vieira. The appointment of Daniele De Rossi led to an immediate improvement but that has since subsided.

Genoa most recently shared a 1-1 draw with a struggling Pisa side in Liguria last weekend, meaning that they have collected just one point from their last four matches as they hover just above the bottom three and the relegation places.

AC Milan team news: Nkunku a doubt

Christopher Nkunku has been in excellent form for Milan but is a doubt for this one, while new signing Niclas Fullkrug could well make his first start for the Rossoneri.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Bartesaghi; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Rabiot, Pervis Estupinan; Fullkrug, Leao

Unavailable: Santiago Gimenez (Injured)

Questionable: Nkunku (Injured)

Genoa team news: Onana still at AFCON

With Cameroon having progressed into the quarter-finals of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Genoa remain without midfielder Jean Onana as he is on international duty.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Leali; Ostigard, Marcandalli, Johan Vasquez; Norton-Cuffy, Malinovskiy, Frendrup, Thorsby, Caricol; Colombo, Vitinha

Unavailable: Onana (International duty)

Questionable: Siegrist (Injured), Otoa (Injured), Junior Messias (Injured), Gronbaek (Injured)

AC Milan vs Genoa prediction

When in charge of Juventus, as well as previously in charge of Milan, Massimiliano Allegri followed the Juve philosophy of ‘winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing’. That can often be effective but tedious to watch and that has been the case for Milan, albeit simply being effective is all that was required after a couple of down years. They face a poor Genoa side that lack goals themselves and it may not be a pretty watch for the neutral but Milan are firm favourites.

AC Milan vs Genoa tip: AC Milan to win & under 3.5 goals
