THE PREDICTION
World number one Iga Swiatek made it seven wins on the spin on Saturday with a consummate victory over Camila Giorgi, conceding just two games to the Italian to set out her stall as the tournament favourite. The 22-year-old won the elusive Sunshine Double two years ago amidst her century-leading winning streak of 37 matches and she can grab a truly rare double-double this fortnight after she coasted through to her second Indian Wells title last weekend.
19-year-old Linda Noskova set a career-high WTA world ranking of 28th after a remarkable run to the quarter-finals at the Australian Open in January, where she stunned Swiatek from a set down to make her name. The Czech trails Swiatek 1-2 in their head-to-head, however, after a heavy defeat to the Pole at this stage of Indian Wells two weeks ago and similar fare looks likely here despite a solid win over fellow up-and-comer Maria Timofeeva.
