Sydney Sixers vs Hobart Hurricanes prediction

If Sydney Sixers are to make it through to the final, they’ll have to do so without Babar Azam after he was called up to a training camp by Pakistan. This puts more pressure on Steve Smith to deliver again for the Sixers, although Babar was dismissed for 0 in Sydney’s last game, a 48-run beating at the hands of Perth in the qualifier. The worry for the hosts is whether they have enough quality down the order with the bat, especially if the likes of Smith, Josh Philippe and captain Moises Henriques are dismissed early.

Reigning champions Hobart Hurricanes narrowly made it past Melbourne Stars in the knockout. But if they are to have a chance at defending their title against the Scorchers, Nathan Ellis’ men will need to do it the hard way, by winning at the SCG. Ellis missed the knockout through injury and is doubtful again here, whilst Beau Webster is proving a valuable addition post-Ashes series.

This is a match that may well be too close to call and really could go either way. With that in mind, the shrewd move would be to focus on Smith and his relentless run-scoring since joining back up with the Sixers. He boasts 210 runs across four innings and warrants backing to score another 30+ runs in the challenger.
