Representing the Philippines, this is set to be a proud moment once again for Paolo Nebrida as he makes the walk onto the Ally Pally stage for the fourth year in a row, 12 months after his memorable run to the third round which saw him stun Ross Smith on the way to his highest ever World Darts Championship placing.
That was the arguably the finest showing of Nebrida’s career, who became the first Filipino to ever reach the third round. Beating Scott Williams would be arguably a bigger fear when considering Shaggy’s World Darts Championship pedigree. Williams has never been eliminated in round one and made it all the way to the semi-finals in his second Ally Pally appearance.
Nebrida is notorious for his ability to upset the odds and this will be by no means a walkover for Williams. Don’t be surprised if Nebrida picks up at least one set and the shrewd play may well be to back over 3.5 total sets rather than an outright winner.
