THE TEAM NEWS

SCOTLAND

  • Scotland put up a valiant effort in France in their last Six Nations contest but fell short late in the contest, although their effort in Paris will stand them in good stead for this contest.
  • The Scots will hope to end Ireland’s hopes of claiming the Grand Slam but will have to do so without Grant Gilchrist who is banned following his red card against the French.

Starting XV: Hogg; Steyn, Jones, Tuipulotu, Van der Merwe; Russell, White; Schoeman, Turner, Z. Fagerson, R. Gray, J. Gray, M. Fagerson, Ritchie, Dempsey

Replacements: Brown, Bhatti, Berghan, Cummings, Watson, Price, Kinghorn, Harris

IRELAND

  • Ireland remained on course to land the Grand Slam as they made it three wins from three in the Six Nations, running out victors against Italy last time out.
  • Andy Farrell’s side have now won their last nine matches and make six changes for this game as they welcome back some key men including fly-half Johnny Sexton.

Starting XV: Keenan; Hansen, Ringrose, Aki, Lowe; Sexton, Murray; Porter, Sheehan, Furlong; Henderson, Ryan, O'Mahony, van der Flier, Doris

Replacements: Kelleher, Healy, O'Toole, Baird, Conan, Gibson-Park, Byrne, Henshaw

THE PREDICTION

Scotland will believe they can better Ireland here and hand them a first loss of this season’s Six Nations but it will be a very tough ask for them. The Scots were edged out by France in what was a gallant effort in their latest game but while they will hold no fear, their record against the Irish leaves a lot to be desired. Ireland are on a superb run of form and having won 19 of their 23 matches against Scotland in this competition, the away side have to be fancied once again here with the win set to move them within a game of landing the Grand Slam.
