THE PREDICTION

La Rochelle continued their excellent form with an enormous 13-31 victory away at Bordeaux last Saturday, built upon too many penalties conceded by the stuttering hosts. After a drab start to their Top 14 season, La Rochelle are tucked inside the play-offs with four games to play and one of the form teams just at the right time. Travelling Bordeaux’s season is unravelling poorly, with just one win from their last eight matches across all competitions seeing them forfeit a strong lead in the Top 14. They should be able to keep it together to stay in the play-offs but overturning an 18-point deficit at La Rochelle, a notoriously tough place to score points, would be one of the sporting shocks of the year. With the advantage in play La Rochelle may look to keep this tight and backing them to win a match that goes under 40 points could be a useful combination here.
