THE TEAM NEWS

EXETER CHIEFS

  • Exeter suffered a shock loss against Harlequins in a highly-entertaining game last week and they will be eager to return to winning ways after they conceded a penalty try with the final play of the game when down to 13 men.
  • Scrum-half Jack Maunder was called-up to the England squad earlier in the week and despite missing out on selection for Eddie Jones’ side, he will have to settle for a place on the Exeter bench for this contest.
  • He will join Jack Nowell among the interchanges with the England international returning to the matchday squad for the first time since January and his presence will add to a strong back division.

BATH RUGBY

  • Bath's three-match winning streak was ended by Bristol last week and they face another difficult contest as they head to top of the table Exeter, a side they have defeated in just one of their last nine meetings in all competitions but that victory did come at the start of this season.
  • Rhys Webb made his Bath debut last week but he will be missing here after he was selected for Wales duty and he will be one of five changes to the starting XV from the game against Bristol.
  • Taulupe Faletau is also away with Wales whilst Will Stuart is in England’s matchday squad and their absence will significantly weaken Bath for this game but the likes of Zach Mercer and Christian Judge return and they will hope to limit the impact of the missing international players.

THE PREDICTION

Exeter suffered late heartache against Harlequins last week and the table toppers will be eager to get back to winning ways here. They host Bath who lost to local rivals Bristol last week and although that was their first loss in four, Exeter look better equipped to deal with international call-ups and they should be able to condemn the visitors to a second straight loss with the home side able to cover -11.
