THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

  • Sydney Roosters were beaten by the last play of the game against St. George Illawarra Dragons as they failed to hold on to the lead that they had just taken.
  • It was a hugely disappointing ending to a game in which the Tricolours struggled to assert their dominance with that being their third loss in succession. To compound matters, they have lost Victor Radley to suspension while Brandon Smith has picked up an injury.

Starting 13: Tedesco, Allan, Suaalii, Bi. Smith, Pauga, Manu, Keary, Waerea-Hagreaves, Turpin, Collins, E. Butcher, N. Butcher, Tupouniua – Interchanges: Hutchison, Brown, Crichton, Lodge – Reserves: Tupou, S. Smith, Paulo, May, Whyte

Unavailable: Connor Watson (Injured), Paul Momirovski (Injured), Sam Walker (Injured), Brandon Smith (Injured), Victor Radley (Suspended)

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS

  • Canterbury Bulldogs came from behind to claim a first win in three matches as they edged a tight contest against Gold Coast Titans last time out.
  • The Bulldogs still have plenty of room for improvement but will hope to build on that effort but if they are to do so, they will be desperate for New South Wales pair Josh Addo-Carr and Tevita Pangai Jnr. to back-up from Origin after they were only listed among the reserves.

Starting 13: Perham, Kiraz, Averillo, Alamoti, Wilson, Oloapu, Burton, King, Mahoney, Sutton, Okunbor, Preston, Waddell – Interchanges: Reynolds, Morrin, Hughes, Edwards – Reserves: Rajab, Topine, Addo-Carr, Flanagan, Pangai Jnr., Skelton

Unavailable: Luke Thompson (Injured), Bailey Biondi-Odi (Injured), Viliame Kikau (Injured), Braidon Burns (Injured), Raymond Faitala-Mariner (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters have had plenty of time to stew on their alarming loss to St. George Illawarra Dragons and will be desperate to bounce back here. They conceded on the last play of the game as they surrendered the lead in what ultimately turned out to be their third loss in-a-row. They now take on a Canterbury Bulldogs side that sit just two points behind them on the ladder after they got the better of Gold Coast Titans in their latest contest. This is another potential banana skin for the Roosters with confidence likely to be extremely low but Joey Manu’s return from injury can give them enough of a boost to come out on top in this one.
