THE TEAM NEWS

PENRITH PANTHERS

  • Penrith Panthers earned a third victory in succession as they were able to eke out a win over Brisbane Broncos in their last encounter with their defence getting back to where it was last season.
  • The Panthers have conceded just 14 points in their last three games and are almost at full-strength for this contest with Izack Tago and Spencer Leniu both in with a chance of returning from injury.

Starting 13: Edwards, Turuva, Peachey, Crichton, To’o, Luai, Cleary, Leota, Kenny, Fisher-Harris, Sorensen, Hosking, Yeo – Interchanges: Luke, L. Smith, Martin, Salmon – Reserves: Cogger, Garner, Jenkins, Eisenhuth, Henry, Tago, Leniu

Unavailable: Taylan May (Injured)

ST. GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

  • St. George Illawarra Dragons were unable to repeat the heroics of their win over Sydney Roosters as they failed to overcome the Dolphins last week.
  • The Dragons struggle when Ben Hunt is not available to guide them around the field and their inexperience in the halves showed last week but Hunt is back on deck after featuring for Queensland during the week.

Starting 13: Sloan, Mat. Feagai, Suli, Lomax, Ravalawa, Amone, B. Hunt, F. Molo, Liddle, M. Molo, Burns, Su’A, De Belin – Interchanges: Sullivan, Murdoch-Masila, J. Hunt, Kerr – Reserves: Mbye, Couchman, Musgrove, Max Feagai, Moga

Unavailable: Cody Ramsey (Illness), Tyrell Fuimaono (Injured), Blake Laurie (Injured), Jack Bird (Rested)

THE PREDICTION

Penrith Panthers are looking like the side that have won back-to-back Grand Finals with their defence coming to the fore of late. There will be some focus on the other side of the ball here with Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai back with their club after coming in for a bit of a kicking for their performance for the Blues during Origin on Wednesday. The Panthers will be well-rested having not played since the 18th May and with St. George Illawarra Dragons losing seven of their last eight, it is hard to see the away side getting close to the hosts in this one so consider Penrith to cover the -14 handicap.
