Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers prediction

Perth Scorchers are looking to secure an unprecedented sixth BBL title, having last won it in 2023 after winning the final at home against Brisbane Heat. Just under three years later and the Scorchers once again have the opportunity to clinch glory in front of their fans at Optus Stadium, this time vs Sydney Sixers, who are trying to win a fourth BBL. These two sides last collided in the final back in 2022 with Perth beating the Sixers by a resounding 79 runs at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.

Ashton Turner’s Perth ended the league stage top of the table with seven wins from ten and a convincing 48-run triumph over Sydney in the qualifier guaranteed their place here. But the second-placed Sixers bounced back emphatically in the challenger, defeating Hobart Hurricanes to set up this rematch in the BBL 15 final. Once again, it was the red-hot Steve Smith who was critical to victory and his runs have transformed this Sixers team. Smith’s 65 from 43 balls was the fifth time that he has top-scored for his side across all five of his BBL 15 appearances this season, accumulating 275 runs overall at an average of 68.75.

But against opposition as strong as Perth, Smith’s exploits alone may not be enough for Sydney. We saw that in the qualifier, where the Sixers’ lack of depth caught up with them. Both teams boast excellent bowling attacks but the Scorchers have more match-winners down the order. Combine that with home advantage and it’s well worth backing them to make more BBL history.
