Newcastle preview: Strong start

Having arrived mid-way through pre-season, Matthias Jaissle has got an immediate response from his Newcastle squad as they begin with four points collected from their opening couple of games in the Premier League.

Bournemouth preview: Frustrated Cherries

Andoni Iraola departed AFC Bournemouth over the summer but was replaced by former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Marco Rose quite quickly and their performances have been strong at the start of this season – but their results have frustrated them.

The Cherries had the lead until late on before a turnaround and a defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium before they conceded a late equaliser and had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Everton at the Vitality Stadium last week.

Newcastle team news: Fernandez-Pardo likely to be on the bench

In his pre-match press conference, Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle has suggested that big money new signing Matias Fernandez-Pardo will begin life as a substitute at St James' Park.

He did not confirm as to when any of Dan Burn, Joelinton or Will Osula will return, just saying that 'they are progressing well.'

Home advantage should ensure that Newcastle once again play with the energy and intensity that they have thus far shown under Jaissle, who is known for that style from his time at Red Bull Salzburg.
