As bad as this season has gone for Melbourne Renegades so far, victory against their biggest rivals at the MCG would be the perfect way to turn things around and potential trigger a late push up the table. A strained neck suffered by star spinner Adam Zampa does not help their cause though, with the Australian international set to miss his second consecutive game, a big blow for the Renegades.

Melbourne Stars are licking their wounds after their perfect record this season was ended by Brisbane Heat in dramatic fashion. They performed well with the bat though and should replicate that against inferior opposition. Whilst T20 cricket can prove a leveller when considering the short format, the Stars are a stronger team and playing by far the better cricket. Factor in the absence of Zampa and the shrewd move would be to back Melbourne Stars.
