Kyren Wilson vs Mark Allen prediction

Kyren Wilson was given a scare by up-and-coming talent Stan Moody in the first round, but won seven frames in a row from 7-3 down to progress to the second round in Sheffield.

The 2024 world champion, who in the aftermath of the win stated that he "dug in deeper than deep", cannot afford to make such a slow start here against an opponent who is regarded as one of best players never to win a world title.

Mark Allen also displayed his comeback powers in the first round, which saw him recover from a self-proclaimed "embarrassing" first session on Saturday to eventually defeat Zhang Anda 10-6.

The Pistol was a completely different player on Sunday and showed some of his best snooker, but he has not been able to produce that level on a consistent basis this season, and indeed was very critical of his own game in the lead-up to this event.

Wilson has prevailed in both their previous Crucible encounters - in 2016 and 2018 - and after that confidence-boosting win over Moody, we fancy the former champion to progress to the quarter-finals against an erratic Allen.
